Team: Run BESH Run!!!!

Well we did it. At 7:00 am I started the first leg of the California International Marathon. I ran 6 miles- mostly uphill - a surprise to me! I ran it in a little over an hour and met my sister so she could take on the next leg. She ran a little over 7 miles in an hour, then passed it to my rommmate and she ran 7 miles in and hour then finally passed it to our friend who finished the race- running 5 miles in about an hour as well. So in total it took us about 5 hours to run 26.2 miles- not to bad for first time marathon runners!!! : )

I will admit that I was lacking confidence at the start of the race. I knew that I had not prepared as well as I had wanted. It was great experience though. I started the race with about 8,000 other runners. Along the run many people were on the roads to cheer us runners on. I was so inspired to see the other runners next to me. I was frusterated when I realized that most my run was going to be uphill. As soon as I reached the top of one hill, all I could see was the start of another. Despite my frustrations of the uphill run- I still found the strength and courage to keep running. I knew before starting that I would have to be completely dependent on God- I knew that it would not my strength that kept me going but His. I could also hear the voice of one my best friends- when her and went running in colorado we got to this hill- and I didnt want to run up because I felt that it was impossible- but she looked at me and said " Betsy! If you cant make it up this hill, what makes you think you can make it up the hills in life!!????"

All in all it was a great experience. I was so encouraged by the run. I was also glad to share the experience with my sister, and close friends. We are already talking about our next one!!!

Good analogy to the run we're on in this life, in the faith, Betsy Lin. So true of our dependence on God and how we need to help each other with words, etc., along the way. And nice you were able to team up.
